I ventured out at 5 am to Wal-mart to witness the frenzy. I was able to get a camera but saw the line and thought I would forget it! Sometimes the money is not worth the wait. A $400 savings on a TV I would have waited, for a camera: no.
Today when I went to JCPenney they were handing out free $10 off %50 coupons and snow globes! One of the things I like about that store is that they were in stock in almost everything. You don't need to bust down the doors to get a deal, they buy enough for almost everyone. Sales until 1pm!
Old Navy had the entire store on sale! Even if something was just 10% off, they still had good values and enough stock to cover all the early shoppers. Pants and jeans from $10 and velour hoodies and pants for $10.
Best Buy had enough TVs for almost everyone. The couple doorbuster items were gone quick but there were a lot of good values through the whole day! I checked out the store at 6 am and the line was wrapped around the whole place, again a long wait. If you were one of the lucky ones to get there early and get the biggest doorbuster item, was probably worth it. If not, just go in later in the day and avoid the long morning line. Best buy is great for matching prices. I know people who buy the doorbuster item ahead of time and get a price adjustment on the evening of Black Friday to avoid the hassle.
Currently, I am looking for good online travel deals. I thought the airlines would have some good sales but I see nothing so far. That is the one thing I really need, a cheap airline ticket to see family.
